I’ve made the decision to shut down Lalo. It’s been a wild ride since late 2020 when I decided to start this company. I appreciate all the support from family, friends, investors and advisors. In the end I wasn’t able to make a product that people would pay for.
We had a lot of wins with user growth, website traffic, PR pieces, and in the end I can say I gave it everything I have. With the bills piling up and no investors on the horizon, it was time to say goodbye. Ok so now what?
There are two ways
1. Slow
You can download media from each post individually (images, videos, audio) by clicking the download icon that looks like a down arrow (extra bolded below):
2. Fast
Go to the Settings page and click Download My Data:
1. Tap “download my data”
2. Click “download my data”
3. Tap on the notification
4. Tap on the arrow icon
5. Download to your device or share the link via email or sms to download from a different device.
Go to Settings and click download my data. See above for more info.
We ran out of money, and not enough people were willing to pay for the product we had built. I personally financed Lalo as long as I could, but the debt was too much for me to bear.

Juan Medina is the Founder of Lalo. Prior to Lalo, Juan worked for 8 years at Amazon across marketing, product, and business development roles. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and BA in Economics from the University of Delaware.
Gabriela Quevedo is an Illustrator from Acapulco, México. Fascinated by the power of stories she’s always looking for ways to be involved the creation of amazing projects. Gaby has worked on animated films, been featured in books focused on women artists, and has been drawing since she could hold a pencil.
Christie has a background in recruiting, social media management, and customer service. She graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Communication.
Lalo the Llamas is our faithful friend and guide to help navigate the app, give feedback, and make things a bit more fun. Llamas are indigenous to Bolivia, where our founder’s dad (Lalo) was born.
Robert A. Neimeyer, PhD, is a Professor Emeritus of the Department of Psychology, University of Memphis, and maintains an active consulting and coaching practice. He also directs the Portland Institute for Loss and Transition (www.portlandinstitute.org), which provides online training internationally in grief therapy. Neimeyer has published 33 books, including New Techniques of Grief Therapy: Bereavement and Beyond, and serves as Editor of the journal Death Studies. The author of over 500 articles and book chapters and a frequent workshop presenter, he is currently working to advance a more adequate theory of grieving as a meaning-making process. Neimeyer served as President of the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC) and Chair of the International Work Group for Death, Dying, & Bereavement. In recognition of his scholarly contributions, he has been granted the Eminent Faculty Award by the University of Memphis, made a Fellow of the Clinical Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association, and given Lifetime Achievement Awards by both ADEC and the International Network on Personal Meaning.

Gloria is a proud alum of Our Lady of The Lake University where she received a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology and Texas A&M University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
